Position Description:
An existing, widely installed solution is being redeployed as a fully browser-based, Java solution. Participate as a Java developer in this exciting development. You will get an opportunity to develop, design and apply your skills in various aspects of the application development. Vitech’s application uses state-of-the-art open source technologies such as Eclipse, Spring, Hibernate, Tapestry, Jasper, iText, Subversion and Ajax libraries. This project will provide you with the opportunity to work on a very large scale project with a big team and a powerful product development model.
The Java developer is responsible for overall application support with a concentration in Java development. Responsibilities include overall application programming and unit testing of assigned modules within the systems solution (this would encompass both front-end and back-end coding, design and performance tuning).
Requirements and skills required include:
¨ 2+ years of experience building Java based applications required.
¨ Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent 2+ years experience is required.
¨ Strong core Java and programming skills.
¨ Experience with one or more web frameworks such as Struts, custom tag libraries, Tapestry, etc.
¨ Experience with an IOC container such as Spring
¨ Experience with an ORM tool such as Hibernate
¨ Experience with one or more application servers such as Oracle 10gAS, WebLogic, Websphere, etc.
¨ A thorough understanding and application of Object-oriented development required.
¨ Knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL is a plus.
¨ Sun Java certification is a plus.
¨ Strong ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal forms.
¨ Analyze and troubleshoot software issues.
¨ Must be self-motivated and work in a team environment both as a leader and a contributor.
¨ Ability to prioritize and manage workload in order to meet deadlines.
