| Description |
The appointee will undertake small molecule metabolite analysis of medicinal plants and plant tissue culture systems. The appointee will also work with a team but will undertake independent project(s), participate in the design of research studies, as well as compile, analyze, and interpret research data using a variety of computer software applications.
Principal activities will involve the purification of key small molecule metabolites from plant extracts, the use of NMR to identify purified compounds, and screening metabolite production in plants and culture systems using LC/MS. Additionally, the appointee will conduct library research and participate in preparing, writing and editing manuscripts, scientific illustrations and computer graphics for publication, and contribute to the preparation of journal articles, grant proposals, and research presentations.

| Qualifications |
REQUIRED: Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related field is required. Knowledge and experience in the structural analyses of complex small molecules from biological samples using LC/MS and/or NMR is desired. Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas: natural products fractionation, plant metabolite analysis, LC/MS analysis, NMR spectroscopy, biochemistry, organic chemistry, molecular biology. |
