Description:
Job Summary:
Turbine is looking for a Senior Accountant who will report to the Corporate Controller and oversee the company's revenue and equity accounting and play a lead role in the month-end close process.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for all revenue accounting for the company. Ensure revenue is being booked accurately and in accordance to SEC and GAAP guidelines. Ensure consistent application of software revenue recognition policies and processes in accordance with relevant accounting literature and corporate policy.
Review new guidance from SEC and FASB
Assist in the management of revenue process, including royalty reporting, contract review and administration, and cash applications
Provide monthly revenue and deferred revenue data to assist forecasting of revenue.
Prepare monthly accounts receivable balance sheet reconciliation and corresponding allowance for bad debt.
Perform all equity accounting for the company including quarterly FAS123R entries, accounting for stock options.
Prepare quarterly equity roll-forward and equity account reconciliations
Complete monthly journal entries such as cash transactions, prepaid insurance, fixed asset depreciation, various accruals, debt and equity transactions, recording of certain expenses
Administer all term debt and lease records and insure compliance with bank covenants
Acts as liaison with Turbines independent auditors on accounting matters. Prepares annual audit schedules
Participate in month-end and quarter closes including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
Responsible for initiating and participating in process improvement projects
Required Skills:
Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience including revenue recognition accounting with software revenue recognition, equity accounting and stock option
Knowledge of multiple areas of revenue recognition, including SAB 101, 104 and SOP 97-2.
3-5 years "Big Four" public accountant experience is required
Additional 1 to 3 years of experience in private industry, preferred
CPA, preferred
Outstanding attention to detail and ability to deliver timely and accurate product in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Experience with mid range accounting software is important, proficiency in Great Plains preferred
Previous experience working for a fast growing company and/with a subscription revenue profile is a plus
Previous experience working in the online industry is a plus
