We are looking for qualified candidates to join our Legal Management Consulting Practice

The Legal Management Consulting (LMC) practice at Duff & Phelps offers a systematic, integrated approach to solving the business challenges of the legal industry. The professionals of the LMC group understand the issues associated with transforming the legal function into a value-added business, consistent with the overall strategic goals of corporate organizations.

Professionals in the LMC group work collaboratively with clients helping to identify opportunities to reduce operating costs and gain competitive advantage in the marketplace through the effective use of technology. We help clients implement innovative solutions. Specific areas of focus include: General Counsel Strategy, Operations and Technology; Legal and Regulatory Compliance; Enterprise Information and Records Management Strategies; and Global Electronic Discovery and Computer Forensic Investigations.

Professionals in the LMC group work on a variety of assignments, including developing short and long term strategic initiatives with realistic action plans, creating or modifying outside counsel management programs, coordinating electronic discovery efforts and conducting computer forensic investigations, improving business processes integrated with technology solutions, identifying risk mitigation strategies, enhancing the coordination of internal and external resources across multiple geographies, providing advisory services in transition management for merger and acquisition situations, and strategic sourcing and procurement activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Learning about the functional operations of law departments and other corporate functions while helping clients improve their respective operations
  • Learning about the technology application life cycle (e.g., identification of user and technology requirements, design, testing, implementation and post-implementation review) and the use of applications aimed toward enhancing knowledge sharing and workload tracking
  • Performing the day to day activities of projects including interaction with client personnel, D&P members, and professionals from other firms involved in the engagement
  • Organizing information to facilitate effective data access and analysis
  • Delivering a quality work product within established timeframes
  • Preparing drafts of written analyses and reports for third parties on the project scope and/or results of activities
  • Preparing drafts of written analyses, presentations and formal reports for third parties on the project scope and/or results of activities
  • Maintaining detailed work-paper records of assumptions, methodologies, and information sources employed during the performance of all analytical tasks


Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree any designation
  • Graduation date between May 2009 and June 2010
  • Related Coursework: Strategic Management, Organizational Behavior, General Business, Management Information Systems, Law, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, and Entrepreneurship.
  • Strong academic performance: minimum 3.2 GPA
  • Strong business acumen, including focus on attention to detail, strict adherence to deadlines and sound organizational skills
  • Creativity, flexibility and ability to master new tasks quickly
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate complex concepts to various levels of staff and management
  • Ability to apply strong analytical, comprehension and problem solving skills such as identification of relevant issues, researching possible solutions and determining appropriate resources to find resolutions
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments and manage rapidly changing assignments in a team environment
  • Desire to utilize technology to solve complex problems
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and team-building capabilities
  • Demonstrated commitment to obtaining outstanding results
  • Proficiency in Microsoft business applications including Access, Excel, Word, Project and PowerPoint
  • Willingness to travel
