1.	Identify appropriate electronic assembly contract manufacturers for projects to introduce new LED Systems products for general lighting applications from established and potential EMS vendors.  Coordinate internal manufacturing requirements with Monterrey facilities.

2.	Assess the capabilities, capacities and processes at the sub-contractors' sites to meet NPI & production requirements based on product specifications and project timelines. 

3.	Coordinate set-up, development, and qualification of new EMS vendors in conjunction with corporate resources.

4.  Provide packaging specifications as defined by OSRAM to vendors to ensure compliance with company standards, or coordinate approval of vendor packaging with corporate packaging group.

5.  Identify Raw Materials Requirements and coordinate with subcontractor and OSRAM vendors for company specific items, and develop component sourcing strategies accordingly


6.  Manage the assembly contract manufacturers and engineering in generating a costed BOM, and establishing total product costs to meet project timelines.

Work with and assist Engineering, Design and other management groups to debug, modify and improve processing equipment. 

2. Set up and adjust fires, tipping torches, feeders, mechanical devices, coating applicators, electrosensing/electromechanical devices, transfer conveyors, etc. Adjust and ensure proper flow of coating application and oven temperatures, adjust and ensure proper flow of gas and liquids such as oxygen, argon, nitrogen, mercury, etc. 

3. Maintaining schedule production within established quality and shrinkage limits. Perform operational and quality checks periodically to ensure desired attainment. 

4. Continually observe equipment and product at various stages of processing. Determine, analyze, and correct causes of improper forming, feeding, and functioning of processing devices, valves, micro switches, drive pulleys, etc. 

5. Perform preventive maintenance, cleaning, lubricating, and oiling of machines, equipment, and devices. 

6.. Perform the work of a fully qualified all-around Machinist B or C. Working from prints, drawings, sketches, sample parts, or instructions, setup and operate standard or specialized machine tools and accessory control devices to make assigned parts. Notify supervisor of dimensional errors in drawings or of obvious design mistakes. Develop, edit, and correct accessory control tapes and programs. 

7. Build, assemble, adjust, and try out assemblies, sub assemblies, jigs, or fixtures using standard, special, or made-up parts. Construct new equipment working from prints, drawings, sketches, and samples. 

8. Supply materials to production equipment. Load materials to supply feeds and machines. 

9. Maintain records relating to parts replacement and other data pertinent to equipment performance and maintenance. Maintain S.P.C. and other records. Use data terminal to input and retrieve data. 

10. Perform each phase of the operation in full compliance with all company, state, and/or federal safety and environmental regulations. 

11. Perform and assume full responsibility for his/her work and service to assure it fully meets the internal and external customer requirements and expectations. 

12. Notify designated personnel of any irregularities or unusual occurrences in process, materials, or equipment. 

13. Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of assigned area(s) and observe company policies at all times.

This position hours are: Saturday and Sunday – 12 hours each day.  Plus 8 hours on either Monday/Tuesday or Thursday/Friday depending on candidate preference.  Three days off per week.

Job Description and Duties:
Perform the following with little or no guidance and/or direction of Foreman or Supervisor: 
1.Changeover, adjust, maintain and operate equipment throughout the plant. Maintain continual close observation of equipment processing to ensure optimum equipment operation and quality production with minimum shrinkage.  Lessen time required to change over machine and perform preventive maintenance.

2.Changeover equipment to produce desired types and make any mechanical and/or control adjustments necessary to effect quality production in strict accordance with specifications. Perform a wide variety of delicate, precise and interrelated adjustments (including device timing as applicable) throughout various stages of processing. Adjust station devices such as cutters, formers, swagers, welders, sensors, orientors, ejectors, etc. Align and adjust transfer mechanisms. Adjust pick up devices, feeds, positioners, linkages, sprockets, straighteners, slack detectors, guides, tractor, etc. Make any necessary control settings or adjustments and other adjustments necessary to effect proper processing. Perform frequent processing checks based on own or checks of others and readjust to effect proper product quality.

3. Perform preventative maintenance and periodic operation checks on assigned equipment as instructed.  

4. Diagnose, determine and correct causes of product deficiencies and equipment malfunctions by adjustment, repair and/or replacement of worn, broken or otherwise malfunctioning or defective parts and devices. Replace mechanical and/or plug-in electrical devices such as: cutters, forming tools, electrodes, sensor, heads, microswitches; station devices, assemblies and parts thereof; solenoids, valves, air cylinders, sprockets, chains, shear pins, springs, chain links, bushings, cams, followers, linkages, arms, levers, shafts, bearings, gears, motors, etc. Rebuild solenoids, regulators, air cylinders, etc. from kits, reface electrodes using belt sander. Change gear oil, clean and lubricate equipment as scheduled or instructed. Assist mechanical maintenance in major repairs and overhauls. Keep supervision informed of equipment condition at all times.

5. Train manufacturing mechanics I, II and III to perform above tasks.  Direct operators as changing conditions warrant to maintain scheduled production of desired types within established quality and shrinkage limits.

6. Demonstrate the ability to read and follow the schedule. 

7. Demonstrate the ability to use Maintenance software as needed.

8. Suggest methods to improve machinery, lessen downtime, improve first pass yields and, improve SAP maintenance plan for area of responsibility.

9. Maintain required records relative to repairs, parts replacement and other data pertinent to equipment performance and maintenance. Perform related work such as obtain and return supplies, maintain proper spare parts inventories, required material handling, assist to move equipment, etc. Load materials to/from equipment.  Perform all other related work as assigned.

10. Perform each phase of the operation in full compliance with all company, state, and/or federal safety and environmental regulations.
