look over our suggestions so that you'll have the most successful trial
possible.

1. Have you updated your positions this week?
Updating your positions is the quickest and easiest way to increase the
response rate on your postings. The most current postings will appear first
in search results, so make sure your postings aren't lost in the bottom of
the searches - update job postings weekly. All postings can be updated
with one click.
2. Have you filled out the required skills field correctly?
If this field isn't filled out or isn't filled out correctly, your position
will be rejected from several of our important cross-posting partners.
You'll lose exposure on your job and your response rate will decrease.

4. Have you used "real" locations?
5. Have you avoided words that will cause your jobs to get rejected from
major sites like Yahoo?
Do you have at least 10 positions on the site?
3. Are your descriptions lengthy and attractive?
With an abundance of positions online, job seekers are becoming more
selective. The highest quality candidates will NOT apply to positions that
are lacking detail or are poorly written. A few words will
dramatically increase your results. Be sure to include specific and enticing
information on Benefits (vacation time, profit sharing), Salary (including
base pay, commission, bonuses), IPO status, growth potential, etc.
4. Have you used "real" locations?
Job seekers most often search using a combination of keywords and locations,
so it is essential that the field contains a "searchable" city. If you have
entered words like "midwest" or "tri-state" or "South Bay" your jobs will
NOT appear in job seekers' search results.
5. Have you avoided words that will cause your jobs to get rejected from
major sites like Yahoo?
The below list of words can not appear in any part of the job description:
AAA, Big 5, Company information, Fastest growing, Fortune 500, hot, http:,
I am doing, millions $, must hire quickly, outside sales opportunity, permanent
position, phenomenal company, privately held company, Teach your children,
work for a, www.
Also, do NOT include any contact information in the job description area. Postings with email addresses, URLs, and phone numbers will also be rejected. Resumes from applicants will automatically be sent to your email address via our webmail forwarding system.
6. Have you added a "CE" to the job IDs for tracking purposes?
Because CareerExchange distributes your positions to several major websites,
you may have difficulty distinguishing which resumes originate from
CareerExchange (especially if you are using multiple recruiting resources).
CareerExchange will only be listed in the subject about 50% of the time, so
add a "CE" to the end of your job IDs to make your tracking easier.
7. Have you added keywords to your descriptions?
Try to imagine which words or phrases your ideal candidate might be using to
search and add those to your descriptions (including all possible
variations).
Example: (E-com, E-commerce, E commerce, start-up, start up, stock options,
pre-ipo, pre ipo)
8. Do you have good job titles?
Job seekers will ONLY view the job description if the job title is
relevant to their job search criteria, therefore vague or generic job titles
will be overlooked. Make sure your job title targets your ideal candidate. A title
like, "Cobol AS/400 Programmer/Analyst" will receive twice as many views as
"programmer".
Many of our important cross-posting sites will only accept companies with 10
or more positions in their profile. Don't lose that additional exposure, make sure to add those last few positions.
9. Have you added a salary range?
A recent study reported that 55% of job seekers will NOT apply for positions
lacking a salary indication. Adding a salary range to your descriptions
will help detract underqualified applicants and entice your ideal
candidates to apply.
10. Have you been very specific about your minimum requirements?
Make it absolutely evident what your minimum requirements are, so that
underqualified candidates do not apply. Don't be afraid to list things that
you DON'T want! Example:
No 3rd parties!
We are unable to sponsor H-1 visas at this time!
No relocation available!
Must have a CSCI degree!
Must have 10 years work experience!
* To avoid rejection from our major cross-posting partners, make sure the 'required skills'
field only contains "hard skills" like:
- 2 - 5 years of client/server and Web-based client development experience
using object oriented methods.
- Honed skills in as many of the following as possible: Java, JavaScript,
HTML, DHTML, CORBA, COM/DCOM, Photoshop, Frontpage, Illustrator.
- SQL and RDBMS (Oracle) JDBC, UNIX programming and Oracle Web Application
Server experience would be an asset.
Do NOT enter anything descriptive about the position (location, benefits,
growth potential).
