Description:
Under limited supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, determines needed repair for the Work Order / Assigned Task for the Repair of the equipment, buildings and utilities. Lays out the work required to complete the Task, identifies the proper tools needed, procures the necessary parts from the Parts Store via the Bar Code Procedure and completes the Assigned Task, completes the Work Order and submits the completed Maintenance Work Order to the Maintenance Supervisor in a timely manner.
Maintains the Company Policy “No Changes or Alterations’ to any equipment, and /or process, and/or procedures without the prior written Approval from the plant Manager and the Plant Engineer.
Knowledgeable and Experience regarding PSM (Process Safety Management), RMP (Risk Management Program), HAZOP (Hazard and Operability), etc.
Southwest Cheese Company operates 24 hour per day seven days a week 365 days a year. The maintenance mechanics will be scheduled to provide the proper maintenance coverage, including rotating 12 hour shifts, for this production schedule.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. The Maintenance Mechanic must have experience with trouble shooting positive displacement pumps, centrifugal pumps, piston pumps, screw pumps and chemical pumps.
2. The Maintenance Mechanic must have experience with “Lock Out and Tag Out” Procedures.
3. The Maintenance Mechanic must have experience in electrically disconnecting, mechanically removing and reinstalling pumps.
4. The Maintenance Mechanic must have the personal disposition to work with other Maintenance Personnel to accomplish the assigned Task in a Safe and Timely Manner.
5. Preferred Skills such as Tig Stainless Steel Welding, Stick Welding, Plumbers License, Boilers License, Refrigeration License and Gas License.
6. Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures, preventative maintenance work order and related program procedures similar to MP-
7. Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and penalties, State safety regulations, environmental polices affecting facilities maintenance.
8. Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, understands detailed specifications from blue prints and drawings.
9. Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment and tools including various hand held power tools, hydraulic tools, welding equipment, fork lift trucks and other lifting equipment.



Required Skills:
The successful applicant must have over six years of building/facilities/dairy maintenance experience.
