The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for the leadership and management of all aspects of revenue generation at the resort to include direct sales, catering sales, room sales, food & beverage sales, spa sales, and for managing all public relations, promotions and advertising efforts to maximize profit potential and further enhance the resort’s image. In addition, this position is required to provide continued enhancement of the resort culture in accordance with resort standards. Maintain effective relationships with all associates throughout the resort in order to provide a strong, supportive and objective environment. Develop and execute annual business plan. Coach, mentor, cultivate and motivate a team of professionals to effectively maximize profit for the hotel.


PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Overall responsibility for the successful initiation and execution of direct sales, marketing, electronic marketing, revenue management, reservations sales, public relations, and advertising for Wailea Beach Villas and the six condominium resort villages making up Destination Resorts Hawaii.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(What duties are required for the position to exist?)

1. Oversee all disciplines above and ensure the properties are optimized through each sales and marketing channel. This will be accomplished by working with , and (as appropriate) providing direction to, the sales and marketing team on site as well as the regional and corporate teams.
2. Must have strong basic knowledge of each sales and marketing discipline above keeping in mind that this position will be supported by a team of experts in many of these disciplines, who will provide professional consultation.
3. Responsible for all leadership aspects relating to team members under the sales and marketing umbrella, including hiring, coaching, counseling and mentoring.
4. Complete monthly marketing analysis and statistical reports, quarterly executive summary for corporate office, and annual marketing and business plan inclusions and budgets for marketing, sales, advertising, and public relations.
5. Negotiate and prepare all DRH sales contracts (including tour operators, trade-out advertising, advertising, group). Must have experience in contract negotiation and have strong working relationships with the major Hawaii tour operators and trade and consumer publications.
6. Responsible for building and maintaining a strong sales and marketing network throughout Asia, to be ramped up as resources allow.
7. Ensure weekly yield meetings take place for the purpose of bringing the sales & marketing team together to optimize revenue.
8. Works directly with DH&R Corporate VP of Destination Rental Management and provides all requested reports. Participates in various corporate monthly conference calls and annual meetings.
9. Participates in all DRH marketing and pricing/packaging decision making.
10. Develop packages and create in-house advertising concepts.
11. Works directly with, Revenue Manager, Reservations Manager and Front Office Manager to maximize revenue and unit night occupancies for all properties.
12. DRH representative with Maui Visitors Bureau.
13. Participates in travel trade seminars, and tour operator/media site inspections on behalf of DRH.
14. Work with Public Relations resource to compose and disseminate all press releases in a timely manner. Works with contacts in local, national, and international travel media to generate positive unpaid DRH marketing exposure.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Generate quarterly repeat guest and owner newsletters.
2. Assists property Rental Managers with owner retention and relationships by providing them with continual marketing information.
3. Oversees all electronic marketing and sales, and works directly with DRH webmaster to continually improve website and online booking capabilities.
4. Represents DRH at Wailea marketing and public relations committee meetings and is an active member on the board of the KDA with authority to make marketing, advertising, public relations, and sales decisions on behalf of DRH at these various committee meetings.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
(Provide the number of employees supervised, level of authority to make recommendations and hire/terminate employees.)

1. Oversees mainland and Japan sales representatives.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
(Indicate which are required, preferred, or desirable. Include licenses and certificates.)

1. Must have arrant knowledge of Internet and electronic marketing techniques.
2. Prefer applicant have prior rental condominium sales and marketing experience
3. College graduate would be preferred or applicable experience.


FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
(Budgeting responsibilities, approval privileges on Purchase Orders and check requests, reporting and auditing functions.)

1. Responsible for budgeting of marketing, sales, advertising, and public relations.
2. Participates in all marketing and pricing/packaging decision making.
3. Generates positive unpaid DRH marketing exposure through contacts in local, national and international travel media.

EXTENT OF PUBLIC CONTACT
(List the individuals with whom the employee will have contact. Indicate the type and frequency of contact.)

1. Liaison with all local, national, and international travel media.
2. Attends mainland and international travel trade seminars as a representative of DRH.
3. DRH liaison with Maui Visitors Bureau.
4. Representative of DRH at Wailea marketing and public relations committee meetings and is active with the WDA (Wailea Destination Association).
5. Works directly with Corporate Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
6. Participates in various Corporate monthly conference calls and annual meetings.

Position Requirements:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Must be computer and Internet savvy.
2. Must be capable of lifting 10 pounds frequently; 20 pounds infrequently.
