Responsibilities
The Software Architect plays a significant role within the Redpoint team. Often engaged with the client from the beginning of the relationship, you must possess a depth and breadth of technical and business skills to achieve our objectives. As a Software Architect, you have a range of responsibilities including requirements gathering, designing, developing, and testing software, project management, project documentation, mentoring, training, and client management. You drive the day-to-day operations of a project at a client site and may supervise several developers, yet you will still remain very hands-on and have an opportunity to expand your technical skills.
Qualifications Redpoint seeks a proactive, organized, and motivated person with 8+ years of experience developing sophisticated, high performance applications to join our team. We’re looking for an engineer with strong object-oriented architecture, design and development skills with hands-on experience building complex systems. Because you will be interacting often with all levels of employees and management at client sites, you should possess excellent speaking and writing skills. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering is strongly preferred. You should have in-depth, hands-on experience building sophisticated Java/J2EE and/or .NET applications (ideally both) using both commercial and open source frameworks, using agile development methodologies such as RUP, XP or SCRUM, using automated unit testing, gathering and documenting system requirements, and successfully managing technology projects with small-to-medium size teams. Experience with messaging platforms and workflow is highly desirable.
In addition to strong hands-on architecture and development skills, you should have the ability to quickly learn new technologies, transfer prior experience, mentor developers in new situations, manage and maintain client relationships, and perform basic project management tasks including calculating development estimates.
