Position Description: The Instructional Designer will develop performance-based automotive fixed operations and technical training for Mazda dealership personnel, from needs analysis to course content, and evaluation.
The position requires applying principles of Instructional Systems Design to design, develop, and deliver training that improves customer handling, technical knowledge and skills to improve Fix-It-Right-The-First-Time. Develop training curriculum in a variety of instructional methods and media, including print, video, instructor-led courses, and e-learning. Plus, collaborate with subject matter experts and training instructors to develop effective instructional materials, written clearly and concisely, and delivered on time and on budget.
Essential Duties: Conduct instructional needs assessments by analyzing market concerns, data, and needs. Write performance objectives and develop detailed content outlines. Write instructional content including activities, job aids, video scripts, and validate training materials. Use Word for layout and design and PhotoShop for image editing, ensuring materials meet department/corporate standards and learners needs. Use PowerPoint to develop presentations for classroom instruction. Simultaneously manage multiple projects, including production, project schedules, and budget. Develop project specifications, write requests for proposals, and complete requisitions. Supply training curriculum and all instructional material to instructors in the field. Conduct pilot courses and facilitate train-the-trainer while modeling key instructor behaviors. Measure training effectiveness and implement processes for continuous improvement. Maintain assigned courses by revising with new information. Work as a team and collaborate with subject matter experts, instructors, instructional designers, vendors, and technical staff. Provide support for the Master Technician Competition and other technician recognition programs. Assist with various technical training projects as needed. |
