The International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) is a nonprofit scientific and charitable organization founded in 1996 whose mission is to ensure the development of safe, effective, accessible, preventive HIV vaccines for use throughout the world. IAVI's work focuses on four areas: accelerating scientific progress; mobilizing public support through issue advocacy and education; encouraging industrial involvement in AIDS vaccine development; and working to assure global access to a vaccine. Position: Sponsored Research Grant Manager Location: New York, NY Position Summary:
The Sponsored Research Grant Manager works within the Planning and Contract Management Unit to support the organization's sponsored research functions including the pre- and post- award management of NIH grants. Key Responsibilities: • Establish systems, policies, and procedures to bring IAVI into compliance with NIH funding requirements (i.e. highly restricted project accounting, financial conflict of interest in research, etc.) • Work closely with IAVI investigators, budget managers, research administration and grants & contracts in the pre-award process to submit projects/proposals for funding to the NIH, including applications where IAVI is a subawardee • Manage the post award administration of funded NIH grants including progress and financial reporting, monitoring of spending activity, and compliance • Coordinate with R&D on other sponsored research grants from non federal sources. • Coordinate monthly Sponsored Research working group meetings • Maintain IAVI Sponsored Research Portal Site
Required Skills:
• Bachelors Degree required; advanced degree desirable. • Minimum of 5 years progressive work experience • Minimum of 2-3 year experience in administering grants and contracts, including those funded by the National Institutes of Health • A thorough knowledge of government regulations, policies and procedures regarding NIH grants. • A demonstrated knowledge of government regulations concerning research compliance • Previous work experience in a university or non-profit organization, particularly in research settings, highly desirable • Excellent communication skills, including written and oral communication and the ability to present to groups of all sizes. • Ability to be flexible and work well under pressure in a fast-paced team environment. • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with institutional compliance issues related to NIH grant funding
