Generac Power Systems – one of the world's largest independent manufacturers of complete engine-driven generator systems for industrial, residential, mobile, recreational vehicle and communications applications - is seeking an Engineering Supervisor - Electronics at our Waukesha Corporate Headquarters.
In this highly visible position, the Engineering Supervisor – Electronics will lead a design and development group consisting of hardware (analog and digital systems), embedded firmware, and software engineers in the design of embedded electrical control systems. Electrical systems primarily consist of controls and supporting hardware for engine driven generators. The position will define and supervise a variety of electrical engineering projects encompassing a variety of electronics specialties and disciplines including; control systems for engines, controls systems for electrical switchgear, power supplies, embedded firmware, desktop software applications, power electronics, wireless electronics and transceivers, etc. This will also include conceptual design, hardware requirements, software requirements, electrical design specification, schematics, component selection, circuit board layout and artwork, reliability analysis, failure analysis, FMEA, circuit simulation & verification processes and qualification testing. In addition, the Engineering Supervisor is responsible for electrical engineering support of fielded products in the factory and in the field. This involves failure analysis, root cause and corrective action analysis, troubleshooting, parts obsolescence, development of controlled experiment techniques. Continually assess new tools and techniques for process improvement to improve development efficiency and quality. Implement design driven cost improvements to existing products. Participate in proposal generation including generation of technical write-ups, schedule estimates and cost estimates. Perform other related duties as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES: • Prioritize the work load for the group, based on the department’s overall goals. • Provide the support and leadership required to develop a strong and capable engineering team. • Reduce cost and improve existing product designs. • Make recommendations to correct and resolve problems by suggesting design changes, process or equipment changes, and tooling modifications. • Interact regularly with production personnel, executives, customers and outside regulatory agencies. • Drive engineering strategies to deliver customer requirements and recommend capabilities in manufacturing and engineering services. • Assure all engineering procedures and systems are adhered to and supported.

REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering. • 5 + years of Engineering Management experience leading team of hardware and software engineers • Ability to plan and lead cross-functional development projects. • Energetic with the ability to inspire a sense of urgency in others. • Strong knowledge of technology and design of leading-edge electronics in automotive applications or power electronics • An effective communicator, leader, and decision-maker, and a strong advocate for process improvement, and high professional standards.
