Marketing Copywriter

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Marketing Copywriter will create copy that carries, supports, and enhances the Generac brand across all product lines, marketing communications and corporate communications. He/She will develop and manage marketing copy requests, including integrated marketing campaigns across multiple channels. This individual will work with other marketing personnel and agency creative team members to deliver a consistent tone and voice for all marketing copy needs of the company.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Write and Edit (80%) - Work closely with creative, marketing and product teams to conceptualize and write marketing communication materials. - Write and edit copy for all marketing needs, across all media, including work for seasonal marketing campaigns, branding initiatives, email campaigns and heavy print work such as POS signage, print ads, sales literature, circulars, etc.
• Contribute to Marketing Creative Strategy (20%) - Contribute to the development and refinement of editorial tone and voice for the brand.- Work with team, reporting to the Director of Marketing and also under the direction of the Chief Marketing Officer, agency Creative Director(s) and marketing team, to help set copy strategy for unified online and offline marketing communication campaigns.
• Work with creative and marketing team members to help develop efficient work flow and processes.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Competencies
• Excellent skills in writing compelling, clear and focused copy that meets marketing strategy objectives.
• Ideal candidate will have experience writing copy for manufactured products
• Ideal candidate will have experience writing for widely varying audiences ranging from general consumers to executive level managers and technical professionals including contractors, builders and engineers.
• Ability to work on multiple projects and produce strong copy under tight deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to set accurate project schedules and execute work flow processes under significant workload.
• Ability to successfully persuade/influence team members, selling ideas effectively and delivering good results.
• Attention to detail and successful follow through.
• Understanding of consumer marketing and retail experience a plus.
• Team player, with positive attitude towards the creative process and strong understanding of consumer marketing objectives.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Creative approach to challenges.
• Experience in graphic design a plus


EXPERIENCE:
4+ years of marketing writing; solid background in writing and editing clear, effective copy
2+ years of writing experience or advertising agency experience working with consumer products and consumer marketers

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
B.A. degree or higher/equivalent professional experience in Journalism, Creative Writing, Marketing Communications, English or related degree or additional self-study or professional training

OTHER:
Command of computer programs (PC) necessary to fulfill job (MS Office, Acrobat, etc.)
Fluency in Spanish a plus (formal Spanish, not colloquial Spanish), but not required. Fluency in Canadian French a plus, but not required.
