Position Description:
The Position
The Senior Metallurgy Engineer develops technical solutions and alligns these with business plans and marketing strategy for customers in Mineral Processing. Exploring Metallurgy processes and problems at mine sites globally, the Engineer will define customer requirements for existing and future products. Identifies, evaluates and recommends marketing opportunities consistent with product line objectives.
• Work with demonstration lab staff to develop effective specialized demonstration techniques. Perform high quality product demonstrations, including the development of new techniques and applications for FEI partners and customers.
• Technical product expert assisting with all phases of the sales cycle. Cultivating positive customer relationships and acting as a high level customer interface for specific instrument/applications issues, acting as a technical expert, explaining complex technology details, giving in depth presentations, and assisting in technique development.
• Work with applications development to turn special customer requirements into viable products or features.
• Provide feedback from existing customers, prospects, and the sales force to assist in the definition of product configurations or enhancements that target specific markets or market segments.
• Accompany sales on customer visits to determine competitive strengths and weaknesses. Assist sales force in the promotion of FEI products at trade shows.
• Recommend, evaluate and document FEI and third party accessories.
• Develop and present training programs to the sales force to inform them of new products, enhancements, or competitive issues.
• Develop and present technical papers at professional symposia. Author technical articles for the trade press.
• Develop sales support materials including applications notes, product data sheets, competitive matrices, and technical presentations.
The Requirements
This customer focused position is ideal for an experienced Metallurgist wanting to be involved with a dynamic team and exposed to a constant variety of customer application areas. The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:
• At a minimum, a university degree, preferably in a related scientific discipline such as Mineralogy.
• 7 or more years experience in a relevant (mining or similar) mineral processing role with recent experience utilizing Microscopy technology in sample characterization.
• Senior knowledge in a technical, scientific or specialized field. Knowledge of advanced technology and diagnostics as well as operational optimization experience of analytical equipment; specifically electron/ion microscopes and other analytical techniques required.
• Excellent, enthusiastic, clear communication skills, both written and verbal, with a diverse audience is critical to the success of this position.
• Mandarin language skills would be higly desired, but not essential.
• Excellent customer interfacing and technical sales skills a must.
• Proven ability to interact with cross - functional and cross - cultural teams.
• Ability to travel both domestically as well as internationally and possession of a valid passport.
