Job Description
The Configuration Manager will be responsible for working with the client team to identify, implement and institutionalize standard change management and configuration management processes. This includes the application of standard tools, workflow and lines of approval for these disciplines.
Configuration management will address the management of detailed recording, updating and tracking of the project’s hardware and software assets. This includes hardware platforms and upgrade information, version and source code control of system and application software, location of hardware and software assets, dependencies affecting proposed changes to hardware and software, documentation, and problem/change request tracking.
Change management will address the management of the client’s processes for requesting, tracking, gaining approval for, and implementing changes within the IT environment. This includes changes to hardware platforms and hardware components, software components (including operating system, database, middleware, network, and custom and commercial software applications) and documentation. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Lead the development, deployment and implementation of the Change and Configuration Management (CM) policies and processes, including execution of training and communications programs
  • Lead the implementation, deployment and support of IBM ClearCase, ClearQuest, RequisitePro and Test Manager
  • Perform complex configuration control and change management utilizing Rational ReqPro, ClearCase and ClearQuest for a Development Project that is likely to involve compressed time frames and complex business / technical requirements
  • Perform complex configuration control and change management utilizing PVCS Version Manager and Tracker for Operations and Maintenance activities
  • Identify environmental variables that need to be set to build the release, interfaces with other projects' releases and common code and libraries
  • Lead the development and delivery of all required technical CM documentation in accordance with the established methodology
  • Preparing Configuration Management reports; Supporting project and project audits



    Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer sciences related field
  • Six (6)+ years of successfully performing Configuration and Change Management in a consulting environment
  • Change & Configuration Manager must also be familiar with the Rational Tool Suite
  • Strong technical writing skills and possess the ability to work under pressure to meet critical deadlines
  • Strong relational database experience (SQL, Oracle 8i/9i/10g/11i)
  • Strong background working in distributed Unix environments
  • Superior organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Desired Skills: Experience using Rational ClearCase/ClearQuest
  • Citizenship Required: US Citizen
  • Clearance Required: MBI Clearable
