SEARCHING FOR POSITIONS
Q: How do I search for jobs?
A: To view all open positions at Actel, click on the “View All Jobs” link. You may also search for a particular position by keyword, location, and category. Enter as much detail as you desire, then click on the “Search” button at the bottom of the form. The system will search our database and show you any matching results.

Q: How can I find all positions open where I live?
A: You may search for position openings where you live by using the drop down menu to select the location you desire. It is important to note that while all locations will appear, there may not always be positions open in the area you are searching. If you do not find a position in the area you desire, you may sign up for Actel Job Alerts that will send you automated e-mails as opportunities that match your interests come available.

Q: How can I search for a specific type of position?
A: You may search for a specific type of position by using the drop down menu to select a category. If you cannot find a category that fits your search criteria, you may also use the Keyword section to search by a specific word.

Q: Can I search for multiple criteria at once?
A: Yes, you may search for multiple criteria at once. For example, you may wish to find a position in California (Location) in Customer Support (Category). It is important to note that the more specific your search criteria, the more defined your results will be.

Q: How do I find out more information about an open Position?
A: You can find out details on a position by hovering your mouse over the position title. A preview of the job description will display. You can learn more by clicking on the title of the open position which will bring you to the Job Description page. The Job Description page will have the Job Description and Required Skills, Duration and more. You will also be able to apply directly from this page by entering your email address and clicking the "Apply" link which is located at the bottom of the Job Description page.

Q: What does the Job Alert Agent do?
A: The Actel Job Alert Agent is a convenient, automated way to search for a job. This tool will allow you to select positions, locations, and fields of interest. Actel will then e-mail you about new opportunities as they become available, customized for your interest and expertise! You can sign up to receive notifications on more than one type of job/category etc. as all fields are multi-select.

Q: How do I create, edit, or delete my Job Alert Agent?
A: To create it, click “View all Opportunities” on our main page and from the search results page, click the link to sign up for the Job Alert Agent. You'll need to create a Job Alert profile using your name, email address and a password and then select the criteria for the types of jobs you want to receive notifications about. To edit or delete your Job Alerts, log in to your job alert agent account on the top of the page and change your preferences or click the removal link.


APPLYING FOR POSITIONS
Q: How do I apply to a position of interest?
A: You can apply to a position by clicking the "Apply" link which appears on the Search Results page as well as each individual Job Description page.

Q: Why do I need to create a resume profile?
A: You will need to create a resume profile to apply for a job at Actel. You can come back to this site anytime to apply for additional jobs using the same resume profile that you created, edit your information, and track your application history.

Q: Can I submit a paper application?
A: Actel encourages all applicants to submit their applications online. If you are experiencing any trouble applying online you may contact our support team.

Q: I do not have an e-mail address. How can I apply for employment at Actel?
A: We maintain the vast majority of communication with our candidates via e-mail and this is also how you can stay informed about new job openings, so it is important to have an e-mail address. If you do not currently have an e-mail address, please create an e-mail account with one of the free services like Yahoo!, Gmail, Hotmail, Mail.com, or AOL. Please select the e-mail provider you would like to host your free e-mail account and follow their instructions for account set up. If you use spaces in your e-mail account name, please note that it may not work with our online application form.

Q: Can I submit my resume online?
A: Yes, you may submit your resume online. In fact, by uploading your resume on our site, our software will automatically populate some fields on the application for you. You will then only need to fill in the additional fields to apply.

Q: What kinds of file attachments are accepted?
A: Microsoft Word (.doc), Adobe PDF, and other text formats (txt, rtf) are the preferred formats.

Q: Can I copy selected information from another electronic document?
A: Yes, you can copy and paste the information from any text format document, such as Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, Notepad, or other text formats directly into the appropriate fields in the application form.

Q: Can I apply for employment at Actel if I do not have a resume?
A: Yes. If you do not have a resume, you can still search and then apply for a job by filling out our online employment application form at http://www.cytiva.com/act/template_act.asp. This form contains all the necessary information and in the cover letter and resume sections you will be able to create your letter and resume.

Q: What if I am not ready to fill out the online application at this time?
A: If you have started, but do not wish to complete the online application at this time, just simply close the browser window and with that all your information will be deleted.

Q: What if I am unable to fully complete my application at this time?
A: Unfortunately you cannot partially complete and save the application form, so please make sure you have all the necessary information ready before you start the online application process. Please allow yourself enough time to fill out the initial application; all required fields must be completed, otherwise you won’t be able to submit your application to us. You will only need to do this the very first time you use our online application system, after that you’ll be able to access your profile online and make changes.

Q: Can I drop off, mail, fax, or e-mail my resume to you?
A: We no longer accept resumes via drop off, mail, e-mail, or fax. To be considered an applicant, you must apply online at http://actel.jobs

Q: If I have applied for a job opening using your online application, should I also send my resume to you via mail or fax?
A: No. It's not necessary to send a hard copy of your resume. Applying online is the best way to be considered for Actel job openings. We maintain a secure website where all of your information is protected.

Q: I do not have a computer; how should I apply online?
A: If you do not own a computer, please check with your local public library and/or the local Department of Labor office (Career Center) for resources and assistance with job search and applications.

Q: I have a disability/impairment that prevents me from using your online application system. What other options do I have for applying?

A: You do not have to provide Actel with your Social Security Number for the initial application.

A: Yes, our web pages are secure and are certified by VeriSign. We take the utmost care to protect your information when you are appying for employment.

Q: Can I just submit my resume for future consideration and without applying for a specific position now?
A: Yes. You can submit a general employment application for future consideration by going to http://actel.jobs. Click on “Find a Job” and then “View all Jobs” which will take you to the search results page. On the bottom of the search results page you will find a link where you can submit a General Application for future consideration. Please note that if you’d like to be considered for a particular position it is best to apply for that position directly.

Q: Will I be considered for other positions when applying for a specific position or do I need to apply separately for each position I am interested in?
A: It is possible your profile may be considered for other current or future positions should you fit the specific job requirements of those positions. However, if you’d like to be considered for a particular position it is recommended that you apply online directly for each position that is of interest to you. Once you have applied for a position at Actel, your online profile will be stored in our system which you will be able to access with your username (email address) and password. You can use the same profile to apply for several jobs.


AFTER YOU APPLY
Q: What happens to my job application once I hit the submit button?
A: Your resume enters our applicant tracking system. This system provides us with a talent pool and serves as one of many sourcing sites for our recruiters to identify candidates for specific job openings.

Q: After I submit my job application will I receive a response?
A: When you first register on our website and submit your profile or when you apply for a specific position, you will receive an acknowledgement e-mail that we have received your submission. After that we will contact all candidates directly who are selected for an interview with the Human Resources department and/or our hiring managers.

Q: Will I hear back from a Recruiter?
A: If your qualifications, background and skills closely match the job requirements of a position, then a Recruiter will contact you. A Recruiter may also contact you if additional information or clarification is needed regarding your skills and experience. If a Recruiter does not contact you, please feel free to continue to visit our career site at http://actel.jobs to search for new career opportunities.

Q: How do I change or update my information on my online resume profile?
A: When first registering your information through our online application system, your email address becomes your username and you will be asked to create a password. With your username (email address) and password, you have the ability to log back in to your application and update any information. If there is a change in your skills or employment history (for example, you want to add a new employer to your profile) or you need to update your contact information, you can log in at your convenience to make those updates.

Q: How can I check the status of my application?
A: Once you have submitted your application for a specific position, you can check the status of your application online at your convenience. On our main career page at http://actel.jobs there is a login window for returning applicants. Simply log in using your email address and the password you created when you first applied. Click on the “Check the status of your application” link and all the jobs you applied for and the status will be listed. If you click on the status name, a full description will be displayed.

Q: HELP! I've forgotten my password!
A: There is a link on the login screen labeled "Forgot Password?" Click on this link and then enter the e-mail address you used when you created your resume profile. The system will automatically e-mail your password information.

Q: HELP! I cannot remember my “Username”. How can I access my resume?
A: Please note that your username is your email address. If you cannot remember the e-mail address you used, then please contact us via phone and our system administrator will attempt to find the email address you used. If we cannot locate your information you will need to create an entirely new profile, so please write down your username and password when you first register.

Q: Who should I contact if I am having technical difficulty completing the online application?
A: If you have any difficulty with our online application, please call our Staffing Department at 650 318 4200. Be sure to include your contact information (full name, e-mail address, phone number, and the best times to reach you) in your message.

A: All major browsers including Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, and AOL are supported.

Q: How do I find driving directions to your location?
A: You will find a map on the jobs page on the career site.

Q: I'm interested in learning how I can fit into your organization. Can I make an appointment for an informational interview?
A: Due to the small size of our recruiting staff and the volume and variety of positions we handle, we are unable to conduct informational interviews at this time. We have a great deal of company information on our website at http://www.actel.com and also on our career website at http://actel.jobs. We encourage you to visit these sites to learn more about Actel as a company and as an employer.

Q: Do you have internship opportunities?
A: Yes we annually have a series of internships. For more information please go to our college website at http://actelcareers.jobs. When available, we post these opportunities on our career website.

Q: Do you offer relocation assistance to candidates?
A: Occasionally we will relocate an individual but typically only in very senior or critical positions. Check with any member of Actel Staffing organization and they can check this out for the position that you are interested in.
